Biographical Sources in Anthropology

The following biographical sources provide information on both historical and contemporary figures in the field of anthropology.

  • Anthropology Biography Web  
    Provides biographical information about more than 850 anthropologists and scholars from other fields (such as Ernst Mayr) who have made substantial contributions to anthropology.
  • The Routledge Dictionary of Anthropologists  
    Provides a historical look at the work of prominent anthropologists across the globe within the framework of their peers and schools of thought. Chapters are arranged by national traditions, and include details of each anthropologist's life and work.
