Getting Started
This tab shows you how to find information about tests and how to find the tests themselves. The
majority of commercially available instruments must be purchased from
publishers. Tests that are not commercially available may be found in
books, journal articles, printed reports, or from the author.
Finding scales and measures often requires thorough searching of print
and electronic library resources.
Finding Tests on the Web
Sometimes you can find psychological tests on the web for free. More often, there is charge for most clinical psychological tests when you order them from the test publishers.
- Educational Testing Service Test Link The Educational Testing Service provides information on more than 25,000 research instruments and standardized tests. Some foreign tests are included.
- Mental Health Net One of the goals of this web site is "to encourage the further development of outcome assessment measures, better treatment, and to add to the existing knowledge base of mental health disorders." Some online tests are available.
- Self-Report Measures A collection of instruments from CHarles S. Carver of the University of Miami Psychology Department. These scales are available for use in research and teaching applications. All are available without charge and without any need for permission.
- Buros Institute of Mental Measurements From the publishers of the Mental Measurements Yearbook, you can find information about tests, test publishers, and test reviews.
