Books? Aren't They, Like, Obsolete?
Believe it or not, but books are still totally useful for literary research, even ones that are a few decades old. Dig some of the titles on The Dubliners listed below. If you want to find more, do a keyword search in the library catalog for "dubliners joyce criticism."
Fancy Library E-Resources!
Here are links to some really great scholarly e-resources that will make your research pop! They are all easy to use. Basically, if you can use Google, then you can successfully use fancy databases!
- Academic Search Complete (a great interdiscplinary resource)
- Literature Resource Center (lit crit, bio, & reviews)
- MLA International Bibliography (full-text Humanities articles)
- JSTOR (a tremendous interdisciplinary resource; it's like a scholarly archive)

Want to start searching? Then use the library catalog!
Got Google Scholar?
Use Google? No Duh! Did you know you can use it to find scholarly sources? All you need to do is set up your preferences to Johns Hopkins. Set yourself up with Google Scholar to:
- Find full-text articles in JHU Libraries' databases
- Locate a book
- Track down conference or legal proceedings
- Find an incomplete citation
- Set up article alerts for your topic of interest
Warning! Google Scholar compiles a lot of great stuff, but we don't know what databases, journals, etc it has access to. If you only use Google Scholar for research, you may miss out on a lot of cool info and more precise results.
Ack! I Need Help!
Granted, we may not be able to help you in all critical situtations, but librarians are here to meet all your research needs! If you are ever stumped, there are many ways to get in touch with us:
