Targeting Scholarly Journals and Publications in a Particular Field

To find a list of scholarly journals in a particular field consider looking at the following library resources. Within a subject section, look for journals that are categorized as refereed or scholarly.

  • Journal Citation Reports (JCR)
Journal Citation Reports allows you to evaluate and compare journals using citation data. You can see the most frequently cited journals, highest-impact journals, "hottest" journals, leading journals, and and the most published articles in a field.
  • Ulrich's International Periodicals Directory
Ulrichsweb.com includes the description, type, resources that index articles from that publication, price, contact information and a web address. A separate index exists for refereed titles.
  • Magazines for Libraries
Useful for experts' opinions of journals, scope, background, audience, circulation, and lists of resources that index articles from the journals. Also gives clues on what editors seek.
