Overview

JHU Data Services manages an Esri education site license on behalf of Johns Hopkins University. The education site license provides access to a range of both desktop and enterprise software, as well as software-as-a-service, web-based platforms from Esri.

Software Versions

Commonly requested desktop software and web applications are made available for download through the JHU Data Services GIS & Maps Libguide. It is our goal to make available the most recent version of ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro. However, software releases by Esri rarely coincide with the academic calendar. To keep things consistent for classes, Data Services posts new versions in between semesters and avoids posting new editions of software in the middle of the semester or academic term. Faculty and staff can contact dataservices@jhu.edu to have access to a different version of any of the available geospatial software.

Use Restrictions

All JHU-affiliated persons are eligible to use products in the Esri education site license, provided it is used for teaching, coursework, and/or research; commercial use or use of the Esri education site license for fee-based consulting is strictly prohibited. Faculty using software and web applications provided through the Esri education site license for class should make sure to communicate the use restrictions to their students. It is however the responsibility of each individual to make sure their use of any product provided through the Esri education site license complies with the above restrictions.
