Citing Sources
The library offers you a free subscription to Refworks, an online citation management system. Research on human rights may prove tricky as it is often interdisciplinary in nature. Depending on your topic, you may need to explore resources that deal with human rights in the ancient world or track down conference proceedings that discuss modern day global human trafficking networks.

Human Rights Journals
- Harvard Human Rights JournalFounded in 1988 and has since endeavored to be a site for a broad spectrum of scholarship on international and domestic human rights issues. The Journal publishes a range of original scholarly works on human rights issues of contemporary relevance, and in the past has featured pieces on subjects as diverse as refugee asylum law, female prisoner's rights, rights of child soldiers, oil and the role of the World Bank, detention, rendition, and domestic violence.
- Human Rights Law ReviewPublishes critical articles that consider human rights in their various contexts, from global to national levels, book reviews, and a section dedicated to analysis of recent jurisprudence and practice of the UN and regional human rights systems.
- Human Rights QuarterlyThe journal highlights current work in human rights research and policy analysis, reviews of related books, and philosophical essays probing the fundamental nature of human rights as defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
- Journal of Human Rights PracticeThe main academic journal focusing on human rights practice and activism. Covers all aspects of human rights activism, spanning professional and geographical boundaries.

It publishes a wide range of scholarship from 1991 onward that includes working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, proceedings from conferences, books, journals and policy briefs. CIAO is also widely-recognized source for teaching materials including original case studies written by leading international affairs experts, course packs of background readings for history and political science classes, and special features like the analysis of a bin Laden recruitment tape with video.
