JHU has several outstanding health-related student groups. Here are some of them (if I've missed yours, please let me know at svazakas@jhu.edu):

Recommended Resources -- By Topic (Lists are alphabetical by title)

The following is a list of books, essays, videos, and readings selected specifically for students going into health professions. It includes stories by and about health practitioners from their years as students, interns, residents, and practicing doctors and nurses.

Patients speak out as well; please honor them by learning from their experiences.

Don’t avoid a book just because it’s older -- not too long ago, health professionals had to be able to diagnose without depending on a lot of instrumentation. Read about how they developed the instincts to do that; you'll need this skill every day of your professional life.

Notes:

  • Borrow Direct is only available for JHU affiliates
  • Items labeled "books" are print books; when there's also an e-book, the label is "print and e-book"

(The Office of Pre-professional Programs & Advising thanks Sue Vazakas, MA, MLS, PhD, from the Sheridan Libraries at Johns Hopkins, who consolidated and updated several universities’ lists of recommended resources to create this one.)
