Data Sources for International Relations (SAIS)

Find Data in Articles

Having trouble finding the data you need in an official source? Another scholar may have compiled and interpreted the data and presented it in an article or book.

The pages under the tabs illustrate some ways to find articles with statistics in a selection of databases.  You can apply similar techniques in many other databases.  In addition to the databases for which search examples are given, the Data Citation Index will lead you to raw data published in many social science sources, and some analysis of these data.  See the search screen for information on finding data in this database.

You might also check ProQuest Statistical Insight, an index to statistical publications of the US government., IGOs, and private sector organizations for possible sources of data in articles.
