Patents

Most of the technical information about patented products cannot be found in any other form of literature except in the patent.

  • The Eisenhower Library's Government Publications, Maps, and Law (GPML) Library [A-Level] can assist you in finding all types of government information, including patents.

Other Resources

Many of the online resources used in engineering include information about patents. Two examples are Scopus and SciFinder Scholar. Don't be surprised if you find information about patents in places not specifically listed here.

Tutorials

Patent searching is something of an art form.

  • To do it well, you must be patient, methodical, and creative.
  • It's not like doing a Google search, so give yourself time.

These tutorials will help you get started.
