Book Eye Scanner

It likes to misbehave!

Sometimes "fixing" it is as simple as restarting the computer.   If the BookEye suddenly doesn't want to recognize a usb drive in any port, restart the computer.  However, this will mean that any pages not saved will be lost and will have to be re-scanned.

Sometimes the fix is as simple as shifting the material a little to one direction or another, realigning the laser lines.   Removing call slips or flags or anything that changes the "outline" of the book can help too. Also, try placing a sheet of white paper under the area to be scanned, especially if the page has a dark photo image going all the way to the edge of the page (the scanner is set up primarily to scan black type on white pages, so when dark images bleed to the edge, it confuses the sensor).

If you cannot resolve the problem, do not hesitate to contact s staff person on Slack for assistance.

New option: you can save images to the CLOUD!!!!

If you  need to restart the BookEye, the login information is posted to the side of the machine : )

Personal Camera

Researchers are allowed to take images with their personal cameras for research purposes only.  They do not need to fill out a form to take their own photos.  If the researcher wants to publish an image, contact staff for guidance.
