Sheet Music!

Most of the questions we receive about sheet music deal with the Lester Levy Collection.  Users of the Levy site can search and download free of charge copies of music that are out-of-copyright.  Anything that might be in copyright (basically, anything produced post-1925) is not online as it would be of questionable legality for us to make it available.

If someone wants a copy of something that is still under copyright, he or she will need to fill out a form verifying that the copy is for research purposes/private use only.   Sam Bessen handles all sheet music reference, so transfer the call to 6-8778, or refer the caller to his email, sbessen@jhu.edu.

We also have other collections of sheet music, such as a collection based on the works of Poe.  As with the Levy questions, transfers calls about other sheet music collections to Sam.

The sheet music is stored at the LSC.
