Finding and accessing data and statistics across a range of disciplines.
Core Resources
- DryadA research data repository, primarily associated with publications in the biological and medical fields.
- Nature Scientific DataScientific Data is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal for descriptions of scientifically valuable datasets, and research that advances the sharing and reuse of scientific data.
Astrophysics and Astronomy
- Astrophysics Data SystemThe SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS) is a digital library portal for researchers in astronomy and physics, operated by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) under a NASA grant.
- The Sloan Digital Sky Survey DataThe Sloan Digital Sky Survey has created the most detailed three-dimensional maps of the Universe ever made, with deep multi-color images of one third of the sky, and spectra for more than three million astronomical objects. The latest data release includes optical spectra from the SDSS component extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS), infrared spectra of the SDSS component Apache Point Observatory Galaxy Evolution Experiment 2 (APOGEE-2), data cubes from integral field unit (IFU) spectroscopic observations of nearby galaxies from the SDSS component Mapping Nearby Galaxies at APO (MaNGA), as well as the first data products and maps from the MaNGA Data Analysis Pipeline (DAP)
Physics
- Awesome Datasets - EnergyAwesome Datasets list of open-access energy datasets.
- HepDataRepository for publication-related High-Energy Physics data. Includes data from the Large Hadron Collider including the detectors ATLAS, ALICE, CMS, and the LHCb subdetectors.
- QM7-XA comprehensive dataset of quantum-mechanical properties spanning the chemical space of small organic molecules
Biological Sciences
- Awesome Datasets - BiologyAwesome Datasets list of open-access biology datasets.
- NucleotideThe Nucleotide database is a collection of sequences from several sources, including GenBank, RefSeq, TPA and PDB. Genome, gene and transcript sequence data provide the foundation for biomedical research and discovery.
- The Protein Data Bank (PDB)RCSB PDB curates, annotates, and makes publicly available the PDB data about the 3D shapes of proteins, nucleic acids, and complex assemblies deposited by scientists around the globe.
Ecology
- Avian Knowledge NetworkThis web site hosts time series data sets from hundreds of independent projects aiming to understand the patterns and dynamics of bird populations across the western hemisphere. In particular, eBird connects remote-sensed data of landscape variables and human population to species ocurrence. Each data set consists of observational data, the whole website is a compilation of different observational studies.
- Columbia Environmental Research Center (CERC) DataCERC makes scientific data available to the public through the USGS ScienceBase catalog.
- Ecological Data WikiThe Ecological Data Wiki is a source for identifying datasets that are useful to the study of ecology. The site engages the ecological community to compile this information rather than relying on each scientist to contribute information for their own studies.
- Ecological Society of America Data RegistryThis is a publicly accessible registry describing scientific data sets on ecology and the environment. The data sets registered here are associated with articles published in the journals of the Ecological Society of America.
- The Knowledge Network for Biocomplexity (KNB)The KNB is a long term home for synthesis datasets and research products generated by National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) working group products as well as the broader ecology and environmental science community. The KNB accepts, and publishes, all environmental or ecological related data.
- MorphoBankMorphoBank is a web application providing an online database and workspace for evolutionary research, specifically systematics (the science of determining the evolutionary relationships among species). Data includes species phenotypes to include anatomy, physiology, behavior and other features of species.
- The National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON)The National Science Foundation's National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) is a continental-scale observation facility operated by Battelle and designed to collect long-term open access ecological data to better understand how U.S. ecosystems are changing.
