Things to Know

If you're purchasing a new computer to use for GIS, you may also be interested in the hardware configurations ESRI is recommending in their store at http://store.esri.com/esri/showprod.cfm?SID=2&Category_ID=96
- If you only need to authorize your current application of ArcGIS Desktop (version 10.1-10.8), just download the Authorization File. See Step 2 for detailed Authorization Instructions.
- To start a fresh installation or upgrade to the latest version, follow both steps below: Download and Install.
Step 1: Download
It is recommended that you have at least 2 GB of freespace before trying to use this download option.
Please download both the executable file for ArcGIS Desktop and the authorization file. You will need your JHED ID and password to access these files.

Step 2: Install
Now that you have downloaded the software, navigate to its location on your computer. When ready double-click the software executable file to begin the installation process.
