Book Locations, Statuses, and Call Numbers
Quartos | Quartos are books that are too big to fit on the regular shelves, so they are shelved at the end of call letter sections. (AC, LB, Q, etc.) Exception – N, where quartos are interfiled with regular-sized books. |
Blue Ps | Books in the Blue Ps (Literature, Language, Film) are books acquired since 1996; the call numbers are official Library of Congress call numbers like the rest of the library collection. D-level. |
White Ps | Books in the White Ps (Literature, Language, Film) are books acquired in 1996 or before; the call numbers assigned are a local Hopkins call number scheme, NOT Library of Congress. D-level. |
Homewood House Reference | A small selection of books in the library catalog are part of the Homewood House Reference Collection. These books are available to researchers, but are not housed in the library and will not circulate. If someone wishes to consult a book in the collection, please have him or her email homewoodmuseum@jhu.edu about access to the title. |
Reference Consultation Office | A small selection of general reference books are housed in the RCO. The books do not circulate but can be used in the library. |
Oasis Collection | Oasis collection books are only available for use by Peabody students and faculty. |
